    External Media Playback Issues

In the last couple days my Xbox One media player has stopped recognizing external drives. Additionally once i open the media player and it produces the "no devices found" screen it freezes in such a way that i can't exit the screen by pressing B, only through
    the home button.

The strange part is that when i insert the drive, a pop up appears almost immediately saying "external storage ready" but it doesnt appear in the media player.

Can someone suggest what i can do to remedy this? Its been working for a year without issue and I'm not sure what i can do to change it. I'm mostly using USB sticks, not an external HDD.

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

    Media playback issues

I've been using the media capabilities of the Xbox One extensively and I've found a couple serious issues with it. The first issue is regarding DVD playback. I have a large DVD collection that my kids like to watch, but when I play them on my Xbox One they
are blurry. This affects every DVD I've tried to play.

The second issue is that none of my 1080p videos play well in the Media Player. I have high bitrate rips of my movies and they all stutter when trying to play in the Media Player. The low bitrate videos I have play smoothly though. I find this very strange
because the Xbox One has a h.264 hardware decoder in it.

Flash drives and external hard drives on x1

You resurrected a thread from December to post incorrect information?

The latest update added external storage for the console. It did not enable local media playback.

Xbox One - My Home Theater Device: Perks and Consequences

Windows Media Player already installed in Windows 7 (or a free download if you have the N version). Xbox One Media Player to play that content. You can control all playback functions with Kinect.

Alternatively purchase NAS with built in media server. Use Xbox One's Media Player to playback content. Use Kinect to control playback.

Buy a media remote if you don't have Kinect.

You seem to be adding needlessly complex steps to your media playback.

External Hard Drive no longer detected (Summer Update)

Having the same problem since last week, can no longer use any of my external drives for media playback. Was being used every day before. May just have to root out my 360.

I'm currently using a 5TB for game storage without issues - could be something directly related to media playback then?
