  1. External Media Drive unrecognized after update

I've been using a Toshiba external media drive with my xbox one through the Media Player app for a couple of years now. It is a Canvio Basic's 3.0 1.5TB drive and I have never had any problems with it being recognized on any device until now. It is USB 3.0,
formatted to MS-DOS (FAT32) and has been since I started using it. I've tried all USB ports on the xbox one as well as multiple power cycles. I've also followed all steps on the support page for troubleshooting unrecognized drives with no success. Any other
    suggestions out there?

    :)

  2. Fix for Partition on external hard drive destroyed

Information for all the people who have their usb external disk (format for xbox one games) overwrite, then unrecognized after an update. the solution to this problem for me was to make all the news update after formatting the external disc disconnect.
in this way (in addition to turning off the disk after the xbox one has been completely shut down) the partition is no longer destroyed and I do not have any problem with the updates that disabled my drive and forced me to reload again Once. 1tb to download
    it takes time.

Xbox One no longer recognizes my external hard drive's media content after the update

Before the update I had no issue at all plugging my external hard drive in and using the "media player" app to watch everything. Ever since I downloaded the new update when I launch the media player app I get the "No devices found" message. Is this a known
    issue? Are there any solutions?

The external is a Seagate 1TB external hard drive.

I should note here it recognizes my hard drive as a storage device, but no longer the media content on it.

You sound like you know what you are doing when it comes to troubleshooting.

Just to make sure it wasn't a coincidence, when you unplugged and plugged back in the Toshiba drive can you confirm that the drive is still working?

You could try to plug it into a computer to see if it is recognized (obviously do not format it for your computer or you will lose everything)

I assume the drive has its own power supply as well right?

  5. It's a small drive that pulls power from whatever source it is connected to via USB. It gives the standard blue light that it is functioning properly and connected via USB 3.0 while attached to the xbox but after a few minutes of getting nothing in return
from the system, it shuts itself down. I've connected it to my Macbook and Dell PC and is recognized by both with no problems. Xbox One seems to be the only anomaly.

    Hey there Clotheshanger13!

Sorry to hear the trouble you're having with your external drive. To check, have you tried a full reformat of your drive? You'll need to add the content back, but if previous steps haven't helped it may be worth giving it a try. If the format doesn't help,
do you have a second external drive you can test with your Xbox One?

  9. Thanks for the response.

I have not tried a full reformat of the drive yet as it has over a Terabyte of content on it and I don't have computer hard drive space to move all of it to. I formatted it initially to be readable by the xbox one since that is almost exclusively what I
use it for. All of my other drives are readable by the xbox one, it is the only exception. It was working fine up until I left for the last weekend of July, the system required an update when I returned, the update went through and it no longer recognized
it. The drive is recognized by my PC, Mac and PS3 without issue.

    Hey there Clotheshanger13.

Thanks for clarifying. Unfortunately if other drives are working, it sounds like a reformat of your drive is going to be the best option to try. If you have a friend with an Xbox One, you can give your a drive a test on their console to see if there is any
difference. Let us know what you decide to do External Media Drive unrecognized after update :)
