Yes External HDD support is available. The External HDD must be at least 256GB in size and use USB 3.0. Keep in mind that the External HDD will have to be formatted for use with the Xbox One console.

  6. Hey there Leo ama Ana!

Sorry to hear about the external storage issues. First, check out our Xbox One console doesn't detect external storage page to verify that your external storage
drive meets the requirements to work with the Xbox One console. If your storage device meets the requirements, I recommend trying a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can get this issue sorted.

Please give the follow steps a shot:

    • From the Home screen, press the Menu button on your controller.
    • Select Settings and then go to Power & Startup.
    • Unselect the checkbox next to "When Xbox is off, turn off storage."
    • Unplug your storage device and try plugging it in to a different USB port on your console.
    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 5 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Wait 3 minutes and then plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and check to see if the your if your storage drive will format.
Give the suggested steps a try and let us know if you are experiencing the same issue.

  7. Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy an external hard drive for my Xbox One and I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for approved/compatible models. I do know that it requires a minimum of 256GB and must be USB 3.0, but I'm seeing that some people are having issues.
Any recommendations? Thanks for the help!

    External HDD

Thanks Mister Quimbly for the help, but unfortunately after trying all these steps it is still not working.

It keeps looping through the detection/format and never finishes any of these. My HD is compatible, is empty and usb3 as well. Do you have any forecast as to when this will be fixed?

    Cheers
