External hdd

Hi guys as most of you know xbox one will support external hdd,

iI would like a hdd that is 3.5 not 2.5 problem is I don't want to be turning on and off a hdd, I would prefer one that can turn on when the console turns on and shuts down when II power off the console .

are there any enclosures that have this function?

    thanks

    :)

Most of them don't even have power buttons. My WD External doesn't anyway. I cant speak for the Seagate drives.

They come on when the main unit turns on and turn off when you shut down.

The external drives the op is thinking of are the external desktop drives they have external power supplys that use a ac adapter that has to be pluged in to the wall.

Just get a portable usb drive. That will use usb power and will power on and off with the console.

Just because I have no idea about these things, would there be any benefits of getting a hdd that has to be plugged in?

    External hdd

Desktop drives 3.5 tend to offer higher capacity at a cheaper price and sometimes have higher speeds 10,000 rpm.

I would still pick the portable 2.5 though imo they are more reliable and use less power.
are there any enclosures that have this function?
Decent external drives should function that way. My Seagate FreeAgent drives operate that way - the drive starts up when USB power is applied and shuts down when USB power
    is removed.

    Thanks for the input guys,

It's just going to be a case of wait and see , the portable hdd is a option that will work, but I was looking to use a 1tb velociraptor I got for my pc . It would be nice if ssd wasn't so expensive .

Why is all my games gone from my memory bank?

are they stored on the internal hdd or do you have an external hdd, if external is that working.

    External HDD

Yes External HDD support is available. The External HDD must be at least 256GB in size and use USB 3.0. Keep in mind that the External HDD will have to be formatted for use with the Xbox One console.

Do you have available any External HDD? If you have you can try to find if is a hardware issue in the Internal HDD by installing the games in a external hdd.
