External hdd recognised but not accessible

Today i received the most recent update for the beta preview programme, 10.0.17134.3036 and since the update I am unable to access my Toshiba 2TB HDD.

it appears the Xbox is recognising the HDD, but claims it is 100% full, but no games or apps are showing as being installed. The HDD should show as being approx 75% full.

I have attempted to fully boot the xbox twice, log out of my profile, fully remove power to the box, and even attempted to reformat the HDD via the storage settings. Reformatting does not complete, and it doesn't look like it's even attempting to complete.
I have not reset my Xbox yet.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is it a coincidence that the HDD stops functioning after OS update?

    Model: Xbox One (original)

    OS: 10.0.17134.3036 (rs4_release_xbox_dev_1805.180510-1632)

    HDD: Toshiba DTB320 2TB

    :)

    external usb hard drive question

It doesn't recognise the External HDDs full capacity though, does it, c0deater..?? The Xbox 360, will only recognise "One" 16GB partition on any external HDD..

It is only 16GB, as the UEFI System Kernel, is not designed, for a USB Drive to handle any more than 16GB without the dashboard crashing..

Might sound a little obvious but make sure your console is switched off before connecting an external HDD to either of the rear USB ports.

I had that problem with mine, wouldn`t recognise the HDD if connected when the console was on.

Media Player not recognising External HDD

Thanks for that SoAnnoying. There is a reddit post on the Xbox One page from a dev asking about external hard drives and stuff. I wrote a wall of text and tagged him in it in hopes that maybe he can do something or pass the info along to someone who can.
This past two months have been hard though, we've had to limit are spending because we don't have the hard drive space to download any new games. I don't see why this isn't a issue for xbox, even if it is a small group (which it doesn't seem to be anymore),
they just want to ignore us.

Media Player not recognising External HDD

Hey, all! This should be resolved now with the newest update. To give it a shot, please attempt the following steps if you are still running into this:

    - Unplug the hard drive from the console

    - Make sure you have the update (Settings > All settings > System > Console info & updates)

    - After the update, power cycle the console even if it reset (hold the power button for 8 seconds)

    - When the console comes back on, plug in the hard drive

Let us know your results after you try that out! Thanks again to everyone for your patience while we dug into this. :)
