    External Hdd question

I bought a new WD 2TB USB3 HDD. Plugged it into my XBone and formatted it, but when I plugged it into my PC I could not add any type of files to it. Will we not be able watch movies or listen to music from our external hdd like we could on 360???

    :)

    External HDD Question

My kinect started to do this so try this solution, it worked for me. I simply powered off the console, unplugged the kinect, unplugged the power supply lead, waited around 1 minute so that all the power had fully discharged from the power supply and connected
everything back up, powered it up and now it works as normal.

    Hello

The Xbox One's internal drive is 5400rpm so you would have to get a 7200rpm external drive at least

GrowlingYapper is correct. It is either formatted for Xbox One or formatted for your PC (excluding partitioning)

Currently the Xbox One can't read movie file formats from a storage device, you can however stream audio and moves to the console -

    External Hdd question

yes you are right - I just tried that by myself - I formatted my external hdd for xbox one and than connected it to a Windows pc - it is recognized but there is no "auto-popup" to reformat the disk so you have to go to control panel -> adminstrative tools
-> computer management and reformat it manually - but be aware - pick the right disk to prevent loosing data from other connected disks - if you are not sure disconnect you external hdd - it should vanish in the disk management view and reconnect then select
    correct disk

    Greetings

No problem External Hdd question ;)

I just backed up all my games from internal drive to prevent downloading them again if there is a need to do a manufacturer reset (which hopefully will never occur)

    have a nice day

I'm having the same problem here. My new 2TB HDD arrived, I told Xbox to format for Media, but when I plugged it into my Mac, I saw I did not have permission to write to disk, I noticed that the disk was formatted in NTFS....is there any file system that
Mac, PC, and Xbox can all use? I had the Original Xbox and I can remember putting in a CD and Xbox asked if I wanted to import tracks. This time I can't find any option for that. I don;t understand this!!

The Xbox One doesn't have a rip CD function. Instead, you rip it using PC/Mac and put it on storage media or OneDrive and pull it from there. As you are on Mac using OneDrive would probably be the easiest due to HDD/Storage format differences.

NTFS can be read by PC and Xbox One along with FAT and FAT32. The Mac doesn't use that format but maybe there are tools which allow you to read/write to a HDD using that format?

If not, you could stream from your Mac to your Xbox One using things like Plex.

I thought a 5400rpm USB3 would still be faster as it can transfer more data per second than the internal SATA? Plus it doesnt have the OS to deal with

    External HDD Question

You can absolutely do that. I had to do an advance exchange, so I put all my stuff on my external HDD so it would save time instead of re-downloading everything for my replacement console. The only thing is when you play an app or game for the first time,
it take an extra 10 seconds to start, stating that it is getting the game ready. After that, it starts up everything normally. I hope that made sense. Also, it will load your saved games from the cloud, which take an extra few seconds. Hope this helped!!!
