    External HDD problem

Hi all, just wondering if other people have heard or having the same problem but, my external hard drive won't spin down. Even when the Xbox is off it just keeps spinning. I was thinking maybe it's something to do with the instant on mode, what do you think?
    Thanks

    :)

    Problem with External HDD

I gave my external hdd to one of my friend to copy a game for me but after i get it form him when i connect it to my xbox one it doesn't show all of my games. for example when i select manage on a game that i have it in my internal it shows that its in both
of them (which is correct) but it doesnt show it when i switch internal to external HDD. by the way when i copy my external hdd games to my internal (Copy, NOT MOVING) it doesn't show that game in my external hdd anymore.

I would assume it is to do with the instant on mode, so that the Xbox can read the data for the instant resume mode for the games.

You could change the power mode to see if the HDD turns off just to see.

I just changed it to power saving mode, and it stopped spinning. So looks like I will have to use power save mode, I wonder if Microsoft could patch it?

  6. I personally don't seem them patching it in my opinion,

The main reason I see it powering the HDD while in instant on is so it will read the data with out having to power up the HDD everytime.

With the power saving mode it will give the HDD time to cycle up so the information can be read by the time the console gets to the menu screen

Thank you, but now I have ran into a bigger problem, I found a way to stop the disk spinning when not active but I had to connect to PC format the drive so that the PC could see it and then did want I needed to do. So then I connected my hard drive back
to the Xbox and formatted inserted a disc to install and this is where it starts, it like the Xbox thinks the game is installed I get the splash screen on the game and then is dashboards me and say connect your external device - its like it remembers my old
drive. It then says insert disk to install, I'm like its in there :s the only option is install from Xbox store but there is no way I am installing 400+GB of data. does it with all my games and I have try hard reboots.
