  1. External HDD Not Recording Gameplay Up To An Hour on Xbox Series X

    Hi,

I have an Xbox Series X console and I was wondering if anybody else was having trouble with your external drive (in my case, an xbox officially licensed seagate 2tb external hard drive) not being able to record gameplay up to an hour long even when you format
the drive for media storage? For some odd reason, my Xbox will give me the pop up notification that my xbox can now record videos up to an hour long, but when I click okay, and it goes away, I check to make sure I can actually record media up to an hour, and
it still says it can only do up to 1 minute max 1080p and up to 3 minutes max 720p, the original and default recording times. Is there anyone else experiencing this problem? I've tried three different USB 3.0 drives that I bought and none of them are able
to record up to an hour of footage even though other people are clearly able to. What should I do, for I am at a loss. I've tried restarting the console fully with my apps and games intact to try and get rid of any bugs that might be plaguing the system, but
it still didn't seem to change anything. I plugging it into a different USB slot, but none of them seem to fix the issue. I am at the point where I just want to give up, but I want to give it one more shot before I give up for good. I've contacted the support
center multiple times and have chatted with an expert three times and every time they can't figure out what the issue is. I hope someone can help me, for I'd definitely love to record longer gameplay, but of course, it isn't a necessity, so any help would
    be amazing and greatly appreciated.

    :)

I can't record for more than two minutes on Game DVR

You can't record gameplay for 2 hours. Max is 1 hour, but that also only if you've an external storage connected. Without external storage you can record 2 minutes at 1080p.

Xbox Series X capture does not record my voice (Sept 2023)

    Hello, OGCryptor!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble recording your voice with your Xbox Series X. It seems like you’ve already tried a lot of troubleshooting steps.

As of now, the Xbox Series X does not have a built-in feature to record voice commentary over gameplay using the console’s capture system. This is a limitation of the current system and not something you’re doing wrong.

The options you mentioned were indeed available on older console models but are no longer present on the Series X.

If you want to include your voice in your gameplay recordings, you might need to consider using external hardware or software. For example, you could use a PC with capture software that can record both gameplay and commentary, or a dedicated game capture device.

I hope this helps clarify the situation. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Xbox One X - External HDD for Recording Clips

Hello Guys. I have a question.

I have bought External HardDrive, but I need to keep here some of my personal data (just documents).

Is it possible to use it as a media HardDrive for recording also with the data kept here?

Or do I need to have fresh formatted HDD to record gameplay?

Also how large will be file in 4K of one hour of recorded Gameplay?

    Thank you all for help.
No, the usage of the external HDD only have 2 options, use as
    media HDD
and no need to format the HDD (but you cannot save games content there) or use as
HDD for games content (it will format, erase everthing and
will work only for installations storage
    ).

For now still isn't possible to do both things.

    Game capture time decreased

Power cycling is useless. Complete factory reset is useless. Xbox support chat is useless. Already tried each one. It is a software issue, where Xbox has changed the menu on the Xbox series x so that the "record what happened" feature, usedbto record previous gameplay, can only record 1 minute of previous gameplay. My original Xbox One from a decade ago can record previous gameplay of the same quality for up to 2 minutes.

    Xbox series s/x storage

You can still use external HDD for your Xbox/Xbox 360/Xbox One games but you can't play Series X/S games from them,

Series X/S games can only be played from the internal or external storage card,

with game file size's getting bigger, that 1Tb internal NVMe SSD is going fill up quick.
