External HDD not being seen by XB1 any more

So I have been using this external HDD for a while now, plugged into the side of my console, but as of the last few weeks (that I noticed) the xbox hasn't seen it, I cant access the games that were downloaded on there. Using a Samsung Seagate 2TB D3 station.

I have tried all of the troubleshooting tips via xbox and through google searches with no joy. My PC sees it, but only under Device and printers. Any tips on how to get it back? I don't really want to loose all my saves on various games.

Does the Xb1 support any sort of external hdd or do I need a specific brand?

1406 update

I have a 3TB external that's just been waiting for this.

I've already only got about 45GB left on my XB1 HDD and that's going to get eaten up by Watchdogs. When GwG starts, for the XB1, I'm really going to need that external drive.

Hey arrow2555! The hard drive sounds like it has failed, the data on it is most likely gone. I would suggest replacing it to ensure it doesn't happen again. Thanks!

Plus my over 100 XBLA games that I can't play anymore on xb1, and I have 72 games on my xb1 between internal and external HDD. Before anyone suggests it....these features stopped working long before I got an external hdd, lol.

The XB1 will fully support up to 3TB of external HDD, though. There's no need for a removable internal drive.

The XB1 will ship with a 500GB HDD, but it will be a proprietary HDD and only those will be compatible.

You will not find a loop hole by using an external USB flash drive and having more memory for a cheaper price, if that is what you are talking about?
