    Hello Everyone,

I have an issue with my external hard drive where each time a boot from instant mode the xbox becomes unusable when I lunch a game until I power off my HDD and boot it back. As soon as I do that the Xbox is working properly.

I'm using a MediaSonic Enclosure with a WD 1tb black edition.

XBOX is set up to shutdown the external HDD at shutdown.

    Regards,

    ,

    :)

Okay a little confusing but here's how it works. When any External Device be it a HDD or Flash Drive is used as a Storage Device (Memory for the Xbox 360), the Xbox 360 will only recognize it as such (a Storage Device) via the
USB. In short, a really huge External HDD becomes a 16Gb (Max) Storage Device from USB.

Some Games and some Features of Xbox LIVE require an Official MS Xbox 360 HDD that is for that particular Xbox 360 Console (ie Slim with Slim HDD). Simply using an External HDD will not work for these cases. Any External Storage Device is meant to supplement,
not replace an Official HDD or the performance of one that some Games and Features require.

Honestly instant on screws a lot of things up, in the long run its far better to have your One set to energy saving mode, it only takes like 10-15 seconds to turn on but it clears the cache each times, prevents a lot of network issues and the external drive
powers off fully. You wont have background downloads and updates though.

  5. Thank you for your reply,

Honestly, I've been using energy saving mode for the past 3 months and every time we have a monthly update... I try instant-on for a week to see if it's fix. Unfortunately, the problem is still there.

In you ask me this should work, the ability to resume a game on the fly... receiving updates while I sleep so that I don't have to wait for a game to update... on a busy schedule... I don't know.... They are cool features.

I guess I'm too spoiled... hahah

    External HDD

Yes External HDD support is available. The External HDD must be at least 256GB in size and use USB 3.0. Keep in mind that the External HDD will have to be formatted for use with the Xbox One console.
