External HDD keeps turning on while in the rest mode.

I want to be able to say "Xbox On" and have the console turn on super fast, but the console in this rest mode just keeps turning the external HDD on even when I turn the updates option off. The console isn't doing anything, it just keeps triggering the external
HDD every 30 seconds or so. This needs to be fixed as when I plug it into the PS4 and enter rest mode, it keeps this drive off, my PC does the same thing in it's hibernation mode and so does anything else but the Xbox One.

    Please fix this issue.

Try doing a hard reset by holding the power button on the front of the console until it shuts off then unplug the console from the outlet for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug back in and see if the problem is corrected. Hopefully it should be. If not you
could also unplug the hard drive from the console while you unplug the console from the outlet then before you plug the console back in to power back on plug the hard drive in first.

  5. Thanks for the suggestion, ive been onto microsoft support for about an hour and they helped as best as they could, seems for the time being ill just have to set the xbox to use the internal drive by defult and unplug the external when not in use, bit of
a pain but its all i got atm.

  7. There is also an option to turn off drive when console shuts off. Make sure that is checked off too. It's (Settings -> Power -> "When Xbox is off, turn off storage").Hope this works. Good luck!
