    External HD


    Suddenly my XBox one does not find my external hd anymore. Up to now it worked alright but when i wanted to play a game today which i had saved on the external hd it asked me to make room on my xbox one to install it. Then i saw that the external hd was
    not listed as memory. I already tried their proposals (no update abailable, energy saving mode changed, xbox restarted, plugged th hd in another place). What can i do?

    Error Awakening DLC

    I changed my game and DLC from my console hd to a external HD and now I can't install the dlc again.

    Games not registering downloaded DLC

    Something VERY bizarre is happening! I used my external HD to transfer all content from my old Xbox HD, to my new 320gb HD. There is absolutely NOTHING on my external HD now. Yet I've found if I start skyrim up and plug in my external HD it sees the DLC?!?!
    There is no Skyrim content on my external HD only the Xbox HD! I will also add that I originally downloaded both DLCs to my old 250Gb Xbox HD so the licences is still on there. I'll also add I'm connected to Xbox live so licenses should not matter!!

    Hey there Schweizerkreuz,

    It sounds like the hard drive might no longer be working properly. Does the external drive show up when you plug it into a PC? Are the lights on the device turning on at all?

    The only solution to make the external harddisk work again is connect it to a pc and delete it or simply destroy the partition. The next time you connect it to the XBox One it suddenly appears and the menu asks how it should be formatted.

    A very big shame on Microsoft for that stupid coders on the XBox Security

    Hello Schweizerkreuz!

    If you are having problems with hard drive detection, and the troubleshooting steps outlined on our page entitled

    Troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One     did not work, then I would totally suggest trying a soft reset.

    It's a reset of your console back to factory settings but one that does not uninstall any of your games or apps and is a really good troubleshooting step for most issues.

    Just make sure that before you go ahead with it, that you do know all of the sign-in information for any/all of your accounts(asthey
    will be removed) and have easy access to your internet network.



    Also make sure that you select the option denoted
    reset and keep my games and apps.

    How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One     and let us know how that helps with the issue

    Hello again, if you tested your external HD on another console and it also turned off, it means that there is some problem with your external HD, but it may be on the cable or even in the HD box.

    Hi AyeYaya,

    It sounds that the external HD may have gotten corrupted causing the Xbox One to shutdown since you are able to use the console fine without the external HD plugged in.

    Do you happen to have another external HD that meets the requirements for testing purposes? Or would you happen to be able to try that HD on another Xbox?

    You may need to delete what you have on there, re-format the HD for the Xbox One, and then download what you had on there again.
