  1. External HD with XBox 360?

I want to use an external HD with my 360. However, the 360 only supports up to 32 gig. Can I repertition the external HD into multipule 32 gigs so i wouldn't have just wasted my money? Example: I take a 1 terabyte external drive and make 31 partitions
of 32 gigs a peace? I hope this makes sense. thank you

    :)

  2. External HD (WD My Passport) always on and than corrupted game installs - finally not detected anymore!

I have used an external HD (WD My Passport - 500gb) on my Xbox One for the last month. I am on instant on and noticed the external HD never turned off, even when console got turned off. A few days ago my system began to behave strangely and, after a simple
reboot, I noticed my external HD was not detected anymore. The Xbox also got suck at the green loading boot screen and only after many tries it turned on again (hours booting). The external HD showed up and, when I tried to boot a game, it gave me a corrupted
game install message (the game was on external). Straight afterwards the external HD was not recognized again.

I lost 300gb of downloads and am trying to fix the external HD on a windows PC (running a full erase). My Xbox One works normally without an external HD. Could the Xbox have ruined my external HD, as it never got turned off for a whole month? I read similar
problems in another xbox forum topic. Something to do with last update? How am I supposed to fit games in the small 500gb internal HD?

    Games not registering downloaded DLC

Something VERY bizarre is happening! I used my external HD to transfer all content from my old Xbox HD, to my new 320gb HD. There is absolutely NOTHING on my external HD now. Yet I've found if I start skyrim up and plug in my external HD it sees the DLC?!?!
There is no Skyrim content on my external HD only the Xbox HD! I will also add that I originally downloaded both DLCs to my old 250Gb Xbox HD so the licences is still on there. I'll also add I'm connected to Xbox live so licenses should not matter!!

    External HD with XBox 360?

No that will not work as the 360 will only recognize one partition and currently only supports 2 external drives at a time. But in the near future, full support for external drives will be introduced to the 360 with support up to 2TB per drive. This is currently
being tested by preview members and will be released to the general public in the coming months. So I suggest being a little patient for the update to roll out to the public.

My Xbox 360 Slim isn't detecting its HDD when it's in its slot

    Hello Zynika.
My name is Ezequiel. I'm an Independent Consultant and I'm happy to help you today.
At first I think that the problem is in your internal reading slot of the external Xbox 360 HD, it would be interesting if you could test another external HD to see if it also does not read when inserted in the internal reader of the Xbox 360.

    XBOX 360 External HD

I appreciate the response and have a few follow up questions. So I went ahead and purchased a new 360S console along with the Data Transfer Cable. The new system works great but during the data transfer it froze before it could complete (about 75%). I am
able to see the data that was transferred and use my new console along with seeing the remaining data on the 'old' drive when I plug it in. I am concerned that if I try and move the rest of the data from my 'old' drive it will erase the data that was transferred
to my new system. Can someone clarify what will happen prior to me proceeding.

Also, for some reason that escapes my new systems HDMI connection is not working. I have it set up using the component connector (which is horrible) but when I use the HDMI port I get nothing. Can this HDMI port on the console potentially be defective? Is
there something I can do to troubleshoot? If I have to return this new console can I keep the internal HD once I resolve the data transfer issues?

Thanks for the great/quick feedback so far!

Joey, 1) from the sounds of it, you appear to have tired all available solutions. 2) i'd buy a new 360s model. You'll pay about $100 to repair your current console. 3) you can transfer you connect from the external HDD to the new internal HDD via the transfer
cable. You won't lose anything that is currently on the external HDD.

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear about the console issue.

    1. It appears as if you've followed all of the necessary steps to minimize the issue. At this point, the console is most likely defective.

    2. You can find out about the console repair process at
    support.xbox.com/.../repair-process
. An in-warranty repair is free. An out-of-warranty repair costs $99 plus tax if submitted online, or $119 plus tax if submitted over the phone. Xbox 4GB consoles start at $199.99 (www.xbox.com/.../Xbox3604GB),
    and 250GB consoles cost $299.99 (www.xbox.com/.../Xbox360250GB).

    3. Assuming that the new console would have a hard drive big enough to store all the data on your current hard drive (up to 250GB), you can transfer all of your data to the new console using an Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable ($19.99 -

    www.xbox.com/.../Xbox-360-Hard-Drive-Transfer-Cable
). Although the hard drive is stored inside the new Xbox 360 models, it is easily accessible and removable by a hidden door in the bottom of the console. New Xbox 360 consoles have HDMI compatibility and
    an HDMI port built-in.

I hope you find a solution that works well for your needs!
