External Hardrive

I need to ask a question about using an External Hard drives for Xbox One it says more than 256 GB or higher but what you see in the stores like Game Stop others are 2 GB HD but if you need a 256 GB or higher how can a 2 GB HD work then ?

Second question: during updates do those go to your system HD or to the Default External HD ?

Xbox one pre downloading games

Hi Ive pre ordered and downloaded black ops 3 to my external hardrive, if I take my console and external hardrive round my friends will it work without corrupting the file ? As the external hardrive will be unplugged from my house to his. I did this last
year and I had to re download the game at midnight which wasn't fun

 

So just to be sure.

I can use any external hardrive with the Xbox One. As in if I went and got like a 2TB external hardrive I can use that for my digital game downloads.

The 256GB requirement for external hard drives is only for storing games on them. Anything lower than that is good for media like videos or music. You can see more information on this by checking out our

Manage Storage on Xbox One support article.

For the system updates, those are saved on the internal hard drive; you will see reserved space on the console for the operating systems before you install any games.
