External hardrive

Hi ive just moved all my games from the internal hardrive to my 1TB external. Is there any perks to doing this and any bad ? Also does it use wifi to move items ?

Xbox one pre downloading games

Hi Ive pre ordered and downloaded black ops 3 to my external hardrive, if I take my console and external hardrive round my friends will it work without corrupting the file ? As the external hardrive will be unplugged from my house to his. I did this last
year and I had to re download the game at midnight which wasn't fun

 

So just to be sure.

I can use any external hardrive with the Xbox One. As in if I went and got like a 2TB external hardrive I can use that for my digital game downloads.

 

In some instances, you may see improved load times - but only if the external hard drive is better performing. This would be if you have either a higher RPM drive, hybrid drive or solid state drive. No real disadvantage to using external. All the items are
moved vis the USB bus.

 

Thanks for the reply, ive got a few more questions if that's ok ? 1. When I get prompted to download a system update where would that memory be taken from internal or external drive. 2. Game updates would the memory get taken from whatever Hardrive the full
game is on. 3. If I remove the Hardrive or it breaks are my digital games and save data gone ?

 

1. System updates go to the internal hard drive. You will not see a reduction in the overall space as space is already reserved for this purpose.

2. Game updates go to the same drive the full game is installed to, be that external or internal.

3. Your installed games and digital downloads will not appear on in 'My Games and Apps' if you remove your external hard drive on which they reside.

As long as you are still in possession of the same account you purchased your digital content, that content can be downloaded again as many times as you like. If you are always connected to Xbox Live, your save games are also uploaded to LIVE, so you will
not lose your saves.

 

Thank you for answering the questions. But I've got 1 more I'm sorry for asking soo many questions, upcoming dlc for Call of duty etc does storage get taken from where the game is fully installed too.

 

Yes. It will be downloaded to the same device the full game was installed on.
