External hardrive problems

So i have a question to see if anyone else has had this issue. I formatted my tashiba 2 tb hardrive on my computer and plugged it into my xbox.Then the xbox asked me to formatt it for my games and apps but once i hit the slection nothing happens it just
takes me back to previous screen. I know the hardive is working properly because i plugged it into the computer and it showing everything working.

Hello GOOFY GOUBER,

"...my internal is almost full", yes..., been there, done that! Just got my external drive up and running about a week ago. Everything is running good for me. But, I have to ask you a few questions. Is this a new 1TB USB 3.0 drive? What's the make and model?
Or, like me, are you using an aftermarket USB 3.0 enclosure and a 1TB hard drive? Has your drive been used with anything else? In the mean time, here are a few things to try; If you haven't already done so, preform a "How
to restart or power cycle your Xbox One console" . Then may I suggesting you deleting and "re-add" their account/profile back
to their Xbox. And, double-check the steps outlined in "Troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One" . Also, one more thing, some
one was kind enough to post some positive information about removing the Media Player app from his Xbox to fix a similar problem with "unable to format external
drive as games/apps drive" . Let us know if you continue to have the problem with formatting this 1TB drive.

I have tried all methods that were suggested and it still does not format

Thanks for the follow up. I have used WD My Passport (WDBYNN0010B) with my Xbox One and One S. Other than maybe some performance issues they worked fine on both Xboxes. But, it sounds like your Xbox doesn't like your WD My Passport Ultra at all. My apologies,
but did you say that this 1TB hard drive had been working with the Xbox before? Is the drive recognized when you plug it into a PC? Then, at this point, if there is nothing on it that needs to be saved, may I recommend using the PC to reformat (NTFS) the drive
and then see if you can use it for games on the Xbox.

Is it a USB 3.0 drive? The system will usually notice a 2.0 drive but not actually allow you to do anything with it.

Wish that was it but no. Its not even showing up in the storage settings . Its just strang that if i got on a game that i know is installed on my external and go manage game, it comes up with ready to install. But if i got onto the game hub for that game
i can still launch it and play from there. I can also play them if they are pinned onto the main page.

Hi silly question when you go into my games and apps on the top left just above the games there is a small box that allows you to choose to either display content stored on the internal / external hard drive or both, has this changed to the internal driver?
