External hardrive and game sync

I use multiple consoles because I am away from home for work. Therefore, I have been using an external hard drive to bring my games with me because I am unable to download and update them at work. I also keep my home console (and games) up-to-date
while away.

My question is: When I return home with my external hard drive, do the games on the drive sync updates with the console or re-download them once plugged in?

So just to be sure.

I can use any external hardrive with the Xbox One. As in if I went and got like a 2TB external hardrive I can use that for my digital game downloads.

Hi im thinking off getting a external hardrive for my xbox one my question is will i be able to load my games from disc onto the external hardrive or is it for downloads only

 

In my experience the updates need to be downloaded again for those games on your external device

If the console's external is being used in offline mode you would have to make sure you get an Xbox One connected to the internet and once the external is plugged in you can check if any updates are available for your games. You can also set it up to automatically
download updates as long as there is an internet connection.
