external harddrives

I'm looking for an external haddrive for my son's xbox one. Do I need to buy one specifically for xbox or does any one work? And i'm looking for about 4tb storage. Any suggestions?

If external harddrive will eventually be supported then I'll wait and see how it goes. I just hope that the update will be released before the harddrive is full and I have to start deleting stuff off of it. From the video, it seems that the Xbox One and PS4 work the same way I don't get why Microsoft don't let people swap out the harddrive.

Just wondered if there was a way for the xbox one to pick up an external harddrive as I download a lot of films and alot of tv series then put them on my externtal harddrive and wanted to watch em useing th xbox one is that possible or does anyone know if

Nope there are no requirements for xbox. Usually I prefer to go to a Microsoft store and purchase their brand.. They are affordable.

 

The basic requirements for storing games and apps on an external drive are:

Has capacity of 256 GB or more, and

Uses USB 3.0.

Devices that don’t meet these requirements will be treated as media storage, such as for music or video. If you have a storage device that does meet these requirements for game and app storage, you can cancel the format to use it as a media device.

I personally have a Seagate 4tb externalhard drive and I love it. It is a/c powered so I'm not drawing power from the console and runs like a champ. Ithe ran me around $110.00 but was worth every penny. I went with 4tb because I wanted the ability to
upgrade to a newer model console in the future without paying more for a larger internal hard drive. Good luck out there!
