If i were to buy an External Hard Drive for my One will I be able to have my DLC transfer over . I have games with DLC and I want the game and DLC to transfer over . I like destiny the Taken King I had to type a code in to download it and I was wondering
if it would transfer over ? Also if I have a Game like Just Cause 3 will my game data transfer to my new hard drive and my brothers (for the same game) stay on the other hard drive we want to have separate hard drives for our games but the games we share
we want have our personal game data on separate hard drives as well as our games that we share on both hard drives. Will this work or will I have to re buy my DLC?

here is the one im thinking of buying

is it worth it? and will it do what i want it to do?

    :)

Have you tried changing the hdd?

If external harddrive will eventually be supported then I'll wait and see how it goes. I just hope that the update will be released before the harddrive is full and I have to start deleting stuff off of it. From the video, it seems that the Xbox One and PS4 work the same way I don't get why Microsoft don't let people swap out the harddrive.

    External Harddrive

You can transfer your games and/or dlc to be stored on an external hdd, saves are stored on the cloud too, but when you transfer all the data to the external it will be no different to when it was on the internal hdd. Not sure if you can keep the save data
    separate using two hdd's though

I am sorry for this dumb question, please forgive me External Harddrive :(

    .........

    Which is more reliable?

An external HDD that uses the USB cable to power it or the one that requires a wall power outlet?

dont know the answer to that either, i have had a usb powered one for well over a year being used with my xbox one and it hasnt let me down yet, i chose it because it meant less things plugged in the wall, that was my reasoning anyway

usb powered is better, you know you getting a constant supply, and less stuff to plug in also.

Not strictly true. you get a more constant supply with the AC adapter, there can be issues with USB ports not having enough "juice" to power drives properly and causing issues. Generally USB powered drives are "portable" and AC powered driver are stationary
and not designed to be moved once installed.

There's no definitive answer.....as the internet will tell you...

Yeah you are better off with a seperate power supply.

Your XBox is more than capable of powering a USB Flash Drive but when some people plug it into a surge protector they may end up limiting the juice the XBox gets.

This is because the big black power brick is a surge protector as well.

So if your XBox is straining slightly for power in the first place and then you insert a USB flash drive that is then drawing more power resources away from an already taxed box, this can then result in failures trying to play the games and/or trying to
    save them on the device.

not had an issue in the last year and a half with usb powered hdd and the xbox is plugged into a surge protector, i need to in my area as all the main power cables where i am in the uk are above ground and the wind can cause issues.

My external needs to be portable, so a U.S.B. powered slim was the way to go. If I had no plans to bounce it from my two consoles, then over friends, would probably go the other way.

    Peace, J.R.
