External Harddrive with more than 16TB?

I heared the maximum size of the external Harddrive is 16TB. Is that lilitation per Drive or combined?

What happens If I plugin a device with 20TB. Could I only use 16TB or couldn't I use it at all?

External harddrive for Xbox One

Im thinking of getting a external USB 3.0 harddrive for my Xbox one. Not just for more storage but for quicker loading times too.

I have heard that it can also improve games that heavily stream from the harddrive rather than RAM. Has anyone noticed this?

I cant answer the question about what would happen if you put in the 20TB drive but you are correct on the max size, it is 16TB. You can use 2 drives at the same time, so that would be a maximum of 2 x 16TB which would equal 32TB in total, plus of course,
the built in memory.

If you purchased a 20 TB drive then you could only use 16TB of it. As stated above you can use 2 x 16TB drives at the same time for a total of 32.5TB of storage space.

 

Well, The requirements for the Xbox One External Hard Drive is that it has to have 256GB or more and it has to use USB 3.0. Therefore, Yes you should be able to use all the space provided whether its 20TB or 16TB.

 

I think as time goes on they will add support for larger hdd above 16 tb if what onyx stated. It would be smart of ms to do this and offically released a statement on this
