External Harddrive keeps connecting and then disconnecting

I saw a similar question was posted a while back but I decided to ask again since the answer provided was quite basic and did not provide any assistance with my issue currently. The issue I am having is that I am getting xbox updates constantly saying
the same thing "external hard drive ready". This has come out of the blue for me as I've had my hard drive for about a month now and it has never done this with the exception of the first time I installed it. This is creating some very frsutrating issues for
me because if the message pops up while I'm playing a game installed on it, it immediately kicks me off and closes the game. This tells me that it's the hard drive thats disconnecting but after about 15 minutes of trial and error I am to no avail. I have tried
multiple ports and a new usb cable with the problem still persisting. I know you're going to say that its my hard drive and I should get a new one but I am tired of Microsofts BS because every problem I have with my gaming setup exclusively involves xbox,
so given that xbox seems to be the common denominator for all my electronic problems it has made me seriously consider switching over to PS4 just so I can have peace of mind that my console wont be breaking on me constantly.

We would like to clarify what type of external dive is in use, and what troubleshooting has been attempted besides the different connections and ports used.

An important factor here is the consideration of the external drive aligning with the power mode currently set on the console, and how it's detection can lack due to what power mode its on.

Have a look through our troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One which does mention the
following:

Solution 2: Adjust the power management for storage if you’re in Instant-on mode

Check your power setting. If you’re in Instant-on mode:

Press the Xbox button
to open the guide.
Select System > Settings > Power & startup >
Power mode & startup.
Confirm that your Power mode is set to Instant-on.
Unselect the option When Xbox is off, turn off storage.
Restart your Xbox, and then go to Settings and select
System > Storage and see if your device now appears in the list.

Try looking at this for us and let us know if this works.

The only thing connected is a External Harddrive and I've tried it with and without it and it'll still disconnect. I also can confirm now that the controller will disconnect even when wired in to the console.

@LukeA13X - yes it works. I was lucky, I had ALL my games on an External Harddrive which I disconnected, made the Reset etc. and connected it after my Profile was back on the Console. It saved me many hours

I can try disconnecting the external harddrive..

How is it connected to the power?

The same way my other consoles and television are, through a surge protector.

It is connected wirelessly, but I have never had an issue until recently and all my other wireless devices are working properly.
