External harddrive is making Xbox one freezer or not work

Had not been on xbox one in while, turned it on and it had to start up from the xbox screen. It took ages to load, then was just a blank screen that i could hold down my xbox button on the controller to get the "turn off xbox" menu.

I had to unplug box external harddrives for it to load normally.

I then plugged them back in, one works fine, pops up to say its ready. As for the other one, it will not recognise it, it wont show it in, try turning it off and back in, same thing happened as before, so had to unplug it again.

I have now gone onto settings, system, when i press on storage, the settings freeze, i have to go to the home screen and back then it will eventually close settings but not do anything.

Can anyone help with this issue please as the harddrive has most of my games and saved files on it.

It sound like the hard drive is becoming defective and once that starts it will be hard to access the drive fully.

All of your Save File are stored on the cloud as long as you have been playing while connected to the internet.

Found that the cable from the other harddrive makes the one thats having the problems work, so it seems to just be the cable, ordered a new one and backing everything up to cloud, thank you for the input though.

I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused,

Can you check to see if the External HardDrive has a light that flashes when on and solid when it's been used by the Xbox, this will make it easier to know if it's the External HardDrive or the Xbox, once it's formatted to Xbox One plugging it into a PC
might not let you open it without won't lreformat the External HardDrive to PC then lose your Xbox Data so I would suggest trying it in another Xbox One but it will make a sound and should have a pop up saying detected a new device process to format device,

If it doesn't work in another Xbox One then we can safely say the External HardDrive is defected and if it's still in warranty I would suggest contacting the manufacturer to see what can be done,

alright I have a question I too got the update for the xbox 360 for upwards of 2tb of data and been researching what 2tb external harddrive to buy but what I have read online and on this forum people have been having problems with western digital and Seagate
so does anyone know or can suggest a external harddrive that will work on the xbox 360 and also does any one who if you can transfer digital copies of the game to the external harddrive because I have so many games with gold I need to make room any help would
be appreciated thanks.
