    External Hard drives and Auto-Updates

    Good Day,

Is there anyway that the compatibility of external hard drives can be updated to support auto-updates and auto-downloads? Every time a game that is on the external hard drive has an update, it does not download the update. Instead it would say the game is
corrupt and when I try to install the game again it would not install. It keeps saying installation stopped. I understand that it will take some time to get this update out but it would help the people that actually want to just jump into their games and not
have wait for it to reinstall or possibly update because it is running off of the external hard drive. My gamertag is and I would love to hear back from you.

    Thank you.

    :)

  2. External Hard Drive endless on/off loop

When the console has auto updates set to on the external drive will boot up and turn off every 2-3 seconds endlessly, regardless of the "turn external drive off" setting being on or off. I can turn auto updates off but then the drive just stays on all the
    time...

This seems very bad for my external drive, and I've seen a few reddit posts about this very issue with zero responses or hope of solutions.

Quick Fix? - New Dashboard preview update problem

Unplug your external hard drive and do a hard reboot. Then when your Xbox is back on the home screen, plug your external hard drive back in. I had that same problem.

The latest update should have fixed that problem though. Go to Settings and System to see if there is an available update.

If you are using the Instant On feature of the Xbox One with an external hard drive you'll want to make sure your settings are properly configured.

    Following the instructions here:

    support.xbox.com/.../change-power-settings

You'll need to make sure the "Automatically download updates and purchases" option is
    checked.

Additionally, you'll want to make sure the "When Xbox is off, turn off storage" option is
unchecked. Some external drives do not operate in a low power mode and as such even if the xbox tries to download in the background the external drive will not be operational which would prevent the automatic updates from occurring.

External Harddrives are supported assuming they meet the following requirements:

    • It uses a USB 3.0 connection. If you’re using a USB hub, the hub must also be USB 3.0 or later.
    • t has 256 GB or larger storage capacity.
    • It has a partition. Typically, drives come with a preformatted partition. For more information about partitioning an external hard drive, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Also, it should be noted; I've read reports of people having issues with external drives which they unplugged constantly. Essentially what the reports indicated is that if you have a drive hooked up and sycned with your Xbox One its best to leave it always
connected. If you disconnect it and reconnect it then there could be issues which would require you to go through the entire sync process again. Unfortunately, I can't find the forum link where i read that in the past.

    Xbox One Auto Update (NOT)

Are you using instant on or power saving mode? Do you have external hard drives? If you are using power saving mode, auto update will not work.

Can i download the Xbox One version of dying light 2 on my Series X?

My mistake, I tried it out myself with riders republic. Looks like the XSX just auto-detected and force updated the game when I plugged the external hard drive back in 🙄

Maybe if I had the auto-updates setting turned off it might have worked.. but not sure.

    Sorry mate.
