External Hard Drive

Have a WD my book 2tb Usb 3.0 external Drive connected to brand new xbox one. Few days old. We connected it and formatted it. Worked fine. Also put games on it. The problem I am having is this: Sometimes the drive appears and sometimes it doesn't I also
unchecked the power down external storage box on power settings. I also did the reset hold power button down for 10 sec and swapped different USB ports.

Any help would be appreciated. The drive works but it is very intermittent that the xbox one see the external drive.

What do I need to do? This xbox one is 2 days old.

Hard Drive Storage Limit

if adverts for "compatible" external hard drives are any indication it would seem the external storage patch should be coming some time soon although I note it wont be in the first patch released.

Update......Contacted Microsoft support. They said it needed repair.

1st Xbox One.....Christmas Disc Drive Doesn't work. Returned to store

2nd Xbox One.....Received 12-29-14....USB ports flaky...Returning again.

I will not get a brand new console repaired this is sad.

Hopefully number 3 works. If not I guess Ill have to swap systems.

Is this game stored on your Internal Storage or External hard drive? If it's on your External Hard drive kindly move it to your Internal Storage then remove the hard drive. This is to check if it's due to the external hard drive.

No, the 500gb is a joke. you will 100% need either an external hard drive or to buy the larger 1tb hard drive. External hard drives are just the cheaper option.

May I know if an external hard drive is plugged into your console? If yes, have you kept the external hard drive unplugged when performing troubleshooting steps and check if the issue persists without external hard drive?

You have to have an external hard drive plug in. It does not have to be 360 just reformat it. External hard drives that plug in the USB are not recognized as a hard drive for the 360.
