    I know I can add a external hard drive to the xbox I'm running low on space there's people on the net saying if u have a external hard drive plugged in you can get a a console ban I was planning to get a 4tb external hard drive plugged in the back via
    usb Will I get a console ban for that ?

    Yup, as long as it's USB 3.0 and at least 256GB, using it on your Xbox One is not an issue and support for this was added recently.

    Also make sure there is nothing on there as formatting for use on the Xbox One wipes the contents.

    The people talking about console bans may be referring to using unofficial and unsupported hard drives on the Xbox 360.

    Driftking those people on the net saying that you will be banned are wrong. MS added the support in the last updates. Seems odd to ban people for using something you have supplied to help with Storage management.

    I can vouch for what Ripp, Maxen, and Bowski have said. Cthulu is wrong and is simply mistaken or is intentionally trying to sow confusion and doubt.

    I have a 5tb Seagate attached to my one as long as you 256gb or more with usb 3.0 your fine

    Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

    Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

    Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

    Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

    If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

    As an idea for xbox one hard drives because they are internal and not external try plugging in an external drive to save or transfer all important games to external hard drive and leave not so important games onto internal drive
    that way you can take them anywhere and not have hard drive failures with xbox one.

    Are you running it off of the hard drive on the Xbox One or an external one? If you are playing off of the internal drive on the Xbox One then you may want to get an external for it because that is a known issue as far as the Xbox One hard drive and this
