  1. External Hard Drive Worked for Over a Year then Quit; Still Works on PC

My 2 TB Seagate USB 3.0 hard drive I got for Christmas a couple years ago has worked perfectly until like 1 day ago. All my games are installed on it, and I could play them until yesterday. I played them last Sunday (3/18/2018), but didn't touch the console
again until last night because I didn't have to play games. When I tried to launch Fortnite (installed on external drive, which was and is plugged in), the game said I needed to install the game disk or storage drive it is stored on, otherwise I'd have to
re download it from the Xbox store. Again, the hard drive was plugged in when this happened.

I tried plugging it into different USB ports; that didn't work (I tried all 3 ports, the 2 on the back, and 1 on the left side of my original Xbox One). The first thing I tried was going to the settings section of the sidebar that pops up when you click
the Xbox button on the controller and hitting restart to restart the Xbox. That didn't fix it. Then, I tried all 3 USB ports with a different cable. That also didn't work. I noticed that the LED indicator light on the hard drive wasn't lighting up, but when
I held the drive, I could feel it vibrating and stuff. Holding it to my ear, I heard it whirring and spinning inside. To verify that the drive wasn't dead, I plugged it into my Asus laptop running windows 10. I followed the steps listed here:

External Drive Not Recognized? How to Fix It in Windows

to verify that the drive was recognized by the laptop (no I did not format it, because I have a couple hundred GBs of games stored on it, and REALLY don't want to have to re download them all). The LED indicator light blinked a couple times when plugged
into the laptop before coming on and staying on. I tried Genesis1953 's advice here:

    External hard drive not recognized.

but that did not solve my problem. I did it twice; I unplugged the drive, held down the Xbox power button until the internal drive completely shut off, unplugged the Xbox for more than 5 minutes, plugged it back in, and powered it on. I waited until I was
past the Xbox splash screen when it powered on, and didn't plug the drive back in until poking around the UI and watching a community clip to ensure the console was fully powered on and functioning. Then I plugged the drive back in. Both times I did this,
the external drive was vibrating and making noise, but the light wasn't coming on. Also, both times it failed to give me the "2TB external hard drive ready" notification, and also failed to open Fortnite.

I don't know what else to do, but really want to get back to playing my games tonight and the rest of this weekend, as I almost never get to play except on the weekends. Any help would be much appreciated.

    :)

    Hard Drive Issue !

    Hi there!

It's a bit of a strange process for this one, if the drive isn't showing on your PC, you'll need to follow a few steps on your PC to find it, and then you can reformat it.

There's quite a few steps, you can find the steps here:

  3. External Hard Drive Not Detected

I bought my Toshiba Canvio 1 TB external hard drive in November of last year. It has worked flawlessly for about 7 months. About 3 days ago, my external hard drive stopped being detected. I have tried every method of fixing it on the troubleshooting page
with no success. When I turn on the console, the hard drive turns on and stays on for about 10 minutes then the light turns off. How do I fix this?

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us with this issue. We're sorry to hear about this issue and it seems that you've attempted most of the support steps we would be able to offer. We can't necessary speculate on the reliability of another companies products here,
but it seems that the hard drive is broken. We recommend trying to connect your external drive to your PC and formatting the drive. You will have to re-download the games but if the external drive is broken, you would have to re-download the content anyway.
    It's worth a try.

  5. Thank you for not just telling me to redo everything I have already done. I did this, and it seemed to fix the problem; I was able to register my games and use the drive for about a month, but then it stopped working again. As of now, the drive is once again
not working. Should I just reformat it again it do I need to buy a new drive (I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS BECAUSE I'M BROKE) or what? Thanks for your help

    Xbox one Segate 2000go Problem.

That's unfortunate. I've heard a lot of bad things about the external hard drive's from Seagate fizzling out. I have two WD external hard drive's and they've both worked great since I got them over 4 years ago.

problems Black ops 3 Xbox one

try to power cycle the console, and if you're using an external hard drive check that the hard drive is still working correctly, try to plug it in a pc, you will probably losse all the games you have in there because you will have to format the hard drive,
then plug it into the console again
