    External hard-drive won’t work

I’ve had the hard-drive for 3 years now. I switched on the xbox yesterday and it said ‘try another port or cable’. I tried all the ports and it still didn’t work. When it is on it also slows down my Xbox significantly. I cant even load Sky or Spotify even
though it is on my internal. All my games come up but i cant load into them. When I switch it off it goes back to normal speed. I cant figure out what the problem is. Does anyone know?

    External hard-drive won’t work

    Hi there,

There are some solution to try if you haven't done so yet.

solution 1: Make sure you’ve installed any recent updates to Xbox One

It’s possible that there were recent updates to Xbox One and that you need to manually update your system for it to detect your external storage. To update:

    1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, and then select System > Settings > System > Updates & downloads.
    2. If you see Update available, there’s an update you need to install.
    3. After you’re done installing the update, go back to Settings and select System > Storage. See if your device appears in the list.

If your storage device still doesn’t appear, or if there were no pending updates, try the next solution.

Solution 2: Adjust the power management for storage if you’re in instant-on mode

Check your power settings. If you’re in instant-on mode:

    1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
    2. Select System > Settings > General > Power mode & startup.
    3. Confirm that your Power mode is set to Instant-on.
    4. Unselect the option When Xbox is off, turn off storage.
    5. Restart your Xbox, and then go back to Settings and select System > Storage to see if your device now appears in the list.

Solution 3: Other things to try

If your Xbox One still isn’t detecting your external storage device:

    • Remove and then reconnect the storage device.
    • Connect the device to a different USB port on the console.
    • Power cycle your console:
      1. Press the Xbox button  on the front of the console for about 10 seconds.
      2. Turn on the console again, and then see if it detects the external drive.

    External hard-drive won’t work

    Couple of things ;

*The cable is faulty. It happens.

    * The laser inside the HDD has been put out of alignment. It happens. It won't read anything.

    * As the name suggests, it is a hard disk. It has physical components (laser/cd). The cds can crack, and not read/write anything.

It could just be time for a new HDD. Some can last a lot less than 3 years if they are used every day.

    External hard-drive won’t work

Hello! In addition to trying the other ports, try using another cable, it can be that factor too, if it persists try to clear the cache of the console or restore the system of the console, maybe you will recognize it again, good luck!

Seagate External HDD not recognised by Series X

    Hi,

Can you tell me the model of the drive?

Most external drives won’t work on series X/S consoles due to transfer speeds.

    call of duty modern warfare

Call of duty modern warfare is an awesome game! Catch up and I don’t believe it would crash your external hard drive because that’s how I Play my game so I won’t have to waste space on my internal hard drive.
