  1. External hard drive won't detect Xbox one

Hi. I have a 1 TB hard drive for my Xbox one and its been working for the past 2 months of when I bought it. Now just a few days ago, it doesn't even detect it anymore! (Sense it/knows its there) and yes I've done everything to make it work. You name it,
I've done it. Yes.... Even factory reset. And still it doesn't Even detect my external hard drive being plugged in!

    Please help me out.

    :)

2.0 USB External Hard drive KO after the last update

    Hi,

can you confirm (looking at the title) whether your external hard drive uses USB2.0 or USB3.0?

Only external hard drives that use USB 3.0 will work with the Xbox One. Make sure it meets all the requirements listed here:

  5. Try to hook it up to your Mac or PC.

On your PC you should see driver updated successfully and look at your device manager

for an additional hard drive under "disk drive"

Or you can use Minitool or Paragon hdd tool (both are free) and see if the hdd shows up.

It should show up as "Other" or "Unallocated" under filesystem.

Purchased an external hard drive that isn't showing up on Xbox 1

    Hi,

Now I've corrected the previous reply - sorry had to be done - now on to your issue.

Does your drive get detected at all by the Xbox One? All Storage devices, whether they are USB Flash drives, USB Hard drives or SSD external hard drives should be at least detected, even if they can only be used to play video, but don't meet the requirements
of Xbox One external game storage.

    Was it
    this one
? If so, how did you connected to the console? If it was with a SATA to USB cable, I'm pretty sure that won't work. It needs to be USB 3.0 external hard drive enclosure.

    External hard drive malfunction

Is your console an Xbox 360 or Xbox One ?

Double check if the external hard drive is actually being detected, sometimes the USB connection might be loose. If the external hard drive is not detected, turn off the console

and then double check the USB connector is firmly plugged in, then turn console back on and see if external hard drive appears.

Also another thing to check... some brands of external hard drive have a power light when turned on. Check if the power light is on.

xbox one not recognising my hard drive

    Hi there agentdutywars17,

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand there is an issue with the Xbox console detecting the external hard drive. I recommend to try the following:

    • Troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One
    • Try a different port on the Xbox console
    • Try using another cable that connects from your external hard drive to your Xbox console
    • Try a different external hard drive to help isolate the issue between the Xbox or the hard drive

Give this a try and let us know the results.

XBOX zeigt Dateien nicht mehr an[XBOX no longer displays files]

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for your post. I understand you are attempting to use an external hard drive for your Windows 10 PC and Xbox One. When you format a hard drive and install games for use on Xbox One, the hard drive will need to be exclusive to the Xbox One. If you
begin to move files onto your external hard drive from a PC you will need to reformat for further use with the Xbox One. For more info, check out:

    I hope this information helps.
