    External Hard drive won’t delete games or format


    So recently I have had an issue with openning games. The “took too long to start” message will appear. I found that the few games loaded to my actual internal hard drive open just fine when the external hard drive isnt plugged in but as soon as I plug
    the hard drive in all the games take too long to start. I tried deleting games but it just constantly shows the white circle spinning. I tried oppening the format to re-format it but it shows “storagemanager took too long to open” I dont know if factory resetting
    will help or if the same will happen if I buy a new 1tb hard drive. I dont think its an issue with the cloud games not loading but it might be.

    Oh, would you like to delete the games on your external hard drive itself?

    You may need to reformat the hard drive as it may be corrupted.

    " Settings > System > Storage > Choose your external hard drive > Format"

    Thanks, but can the drive be formatted without the 360 deleting everything that's already on my external hard drive, or will I just have to rebackup everything after the 360 deletes it and formats it?

    Not sure what you wanted to do here, could you elaborate?

    As for external hard drives, you can't partition them for use as both external storage for games and for use with your Mac or PC. You can use an external hard drive on the Xbox One as a media drive, though.

    If you format an external hard drive for Xbox One games storage, the whole drive is formatted and the file system is changed.

    Unfortunately, if your child's external hard drive is not being recognized by the console, you will need to format it or format it using the PC or notebook, but by doing so you will lose all the saved games you have on the external hard drive.

    as per the other comments about the use of the external hard drive for the 360 I am in the update preview program which allows additional External hard drives to be used.I purchased the same Seagate 2tb external hard drive as per my xboxone but when I apply
    the format on the xbox360 as per the instructions it replies with unable to format. Would like to know what external hard drives are compatible? I no the hard drive works as tried it on the xboxone after it would not format for the 360
