External Hard Drive. Which one?

Hey Im trying to decide which external hard drive to get for my Xbox one. Im thinking about getting the Buffalo drivestation ddr because the speeds are comparable to that of ssds at a good price but im not sure how the Xbox handles the 1gb of cache since
it will lose the software when formatting the drive. Anyone use it? Im also considering the WD my passport ultra cause I just wana stick with 2tb. Or any other good hard drives with great speed i should consider.

:)

Which external hard drives do you use (up to 2 TB)?

I've got an Xbox 360 Slim and I want an external hard drive. I want to know which you use and if you experience anything wrong with it? Would an internal hard drive with external enclosure work? Are there requirements for the hard drive, e.g. FAT32?

Which external hard drive can use?

Dear Support Team,

what external hard drives you can use?
What recommendation are available from
Microsoft?

Can I use a 2.5 inch disk?
Or it must be a 3.5 inch with external power supply?

Bye

I would go with the WD imo. Not only are you not going to hit SATA speeds with USB but you can get a 3tb WD cheaper than your other option.

5. If you want to plan for the future u could also get a seagate 5tb stand alone external, it also runs at 7200rpm. But it's costly.

Hello there xXxRubiconxXx,

I would totally agree with Bon3zz100: the USB 3.0 connection pretty much "limits" the speet of a given external HDD up to a point. I would say that in your case, when choosing an external storage device, the priority should fall on your storage capacity
needs rather than on the speed performance of the hard drive that is anyway limited by the connection.

In case you decide to go with the WD My Passport Ultra, I would say that it will fit your needs. If you need a bigger storage capacity, you can check out the WD My Book Line as it offers up to 6 TB of storage

Hope that clarifies things a bit,

I bought a 2tb Seagate backup plus portable. It doesn't need its own power supply and it's speeds are generally faster than the Buffalo.

I just bought the WD my passport ultra 2TB. It's pretty affordable and does the job.

Seagate is top notch. WD great too. SSD is great, but you have to "build" your own housing. if you are not Technically savvy then you should go to the city gate expansion external hard drive. Major Nelson is currently using this one says it works great

Geez cell phones. I meant Seagate is top notch. WD great too. SSD is great, but you have to "build" your own housing. The Seagate Barracuda is outstanding for SSD. But if you are not wanting to build you own housing, then you should go to the Seagate
expansion external hard drive. Major Nelson is currently using the Seagate Expansion and says it works great

Missed my edit window.

Thanks everyone for the reply. I'm probably going to go with WD my passport ultra or the seagate backup plus slim due to portability and although its only a 5400 rpm hard drive using a 7200 rpm hard drive would only increase load times by maybe a second
or two not to much of a difference. Thanks!

13. External Hard Drive. Which one?

I ended up getting a Toshiba 2TB hard drive. It transferred my games over pretty quick. I'm pleased so far.
Im thinking about getting the Buffalo drivestation ddr because the speeds are comparable to that of ssds
It's not. All the advertising that says things like that forgets why SSDs rule the roost - random access times. Doing
multiple things on an SSD or reading data from lots of different locations are a SSD's forte. You will not see the benefits of an SSD on an SSHD or any other caching system. May as well just get a HDD.
