External Hard Drive or 1TB Hard Drive

Hi everyone so I plan on buying a second xbox soon and want to know some of your opinions to help me out.

I currently have a 500gb Xbox one and im looking to get a second just for a media center in my living room and I have two options.

Option A: Buy the 1TB for gaming and send the 500gb to the living room and later buy the kinect. 400 + 150 = 550

Option B: Buy a second 500gb + kinect for the living room and then buy a 1 TB external drive for my current xbox to expand the space for games. 500 + 100ish = 600

So for 50 more bucks I pick up some space not sure how much of the external drive space will be used for the xbox but might be worth it.

So what I am asking is buying the external hard drive worth it or should I go for the 1TB. If you say external hard drive, please if you can, let me know what hard drive you prefer.

Hard Drive Storage Limit

if adverts for "compatible" external hard drives are any indication it would seem the external storage patch should be coming some time soon although I note it wont be in the first patch released.

No, the 500gb is a joke. you will 100% need either an external hard drive or to buy the larger 1tb hard drive. External hard drives are just the cheaper option.

External HDD is the right choice imho. If you connect an external usb3 HDD installations and games are a slightly faster and you'll have more space to use

I have been using 2 Western Digital Passport Ultras both 2TB on my 500g console for almost a year now and the performance is flawless. I use one for my media and one for console storage and neither one is close to being full. They're around $85 each on
Amazon.

Nevermind.

I took the SSHD out of the enclosure and replaced the hard drive in my PS4 (increasing it's capacity from 500GB to 1TB). Then I took the 1TB external hard drive from my PS4 and made it the external hard drive for my Xbox and no longer have the issue.

It seems it was either the SSHD or the enclosure that didn't seem to quite work right as an external hard drive on the Xbox. Either way problem solved.

No, you cannot use a 1TB hard drive straight up with the Xbox 360 console. If you wanted to use it in an external hard drive sort of sense and use it for Movies/TV Shows/Music/Pictures etc then it would work as a 1TB hard drive. If you're planning on configuring
the flash drive to use with the console then the maximum amount of storage that you will be able to use on that 1TB hard drive is 32GB.
