    I recently got a external hard drive but I tried to download a game on it and it keeps saying installation stopped i have restarted the console i have changed the ports but it still doesn't work please help

    How to make external hard drive the main download drive?

    okay instant on mode is already off because that's your way to get it to work with external hard drive it's an energy mode right now. And I have to keep the x box on in order for it to download to that hard drive. So you're saying leave the instant on mode
    off and keep it on energy mode, and try to download to the internal hard drive? if it works with the external hard drive then it should work with the internal hard drive doing it that way shouldn't it? Because it does work with the external hard drive with

    It wouldn't work as an external hard drive. You would need an actual external hard drive attached to the console for extra storage.

    Perhaps your child's external hard drive is not working. Is your child's external hard drive recognized by the Xbox One? Does it turn on any lights?

    The Xbox hard drive is garbage, load everything on an external hard drive and your problems solved. I had my hard drive 50% full then it wouldn't do anything. Now with every single thing on an external is actually works correctly the way it should work.
