    Lately I have been having trouble with my external hard drive not staying connected or not connecting at all. A week or so ago I had to reset my Xbox and that went smoothly but just a few days ago my external hard drive started acting weird. Sometimes it
    will work when I start up my Xbox and seems fine for a little while and then I'll go to open a game that is on my external hard drive and it tells me I don't have it downloaded. I then go to my games and apps and it says my storage is full and most of my games
    are gone. I unplug it and plug it back into my Xbox and it does many different things. Sometimes it says that it sees my external hard drive but I should put it into another port. Other times it recognizes it and it seems to be fine but then another couple
    minutes later it stops working. Other times it doesn't do anything at all.

    I've tried all of the steps that troubleshooting has said to try and nothing has helped. I don't want to format it if I don't have to.

    Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong and what to do from here?

    Connect your hard disk to the PC and format it, and make a check of the partitions could be damaged.

    Hi there Allynon

    I got this before with a hard drive that is powered by the console, Putting the hard drive into a self powered enclosure helped me fix it. So that might be something for you try getting resloves the issues. I also suggest checking the cables ect.

    It could be an issue with the actual cord connecting the external hard drive to your xbox. I would recommend that you try replacing the cord. It may not work, but based on what you are talking about, it sounds like it could possibly be the hard drive.

    Yea I have tried that and it didn't seem to do anything. I've tried it that way, restarting my Xbox, plugging it into different ports, changing my power and start up and storage settings and none of that seems to help. At random times it seems to work
    saying my Xbox recognizes it and shows all my games are there but then it starts all over again.
