External hard drive not registering

Frustrated this is our second external hard drive that the XBox isn't showing in the storage area? I am at my breaking point to throw the system out my door. We have the X Box S the white system without a lot of internal drive. So i bought external hard
drive to download our game twice now we go to turn it on and Forza Horizon isnt there. We have another drive same thing again no showing up please help

Some notable info from the article include :

For an external storage drive to save games and apps from Xbox One, it must meet the following requirements:

It uses a USB 3.0 connection. If you’re using a USB hub, the hub must also be USB 3.0 or later.
It has 256 GB or larger storage capacity.
It has a partition. Typically, drives come wit a preformatted partition. For more information about partitioning an external hard drive, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
No more than three storage devices are connected to the console at the same time.

I have to ask if you using a external hard drive at all incase it could be the case of these 7 being on the external and the drive of course not registering

Genesis1953- I saw u had posted this info on another feed so I tried it before posting. Unfortunately didn't work, thanks for reposting for me

Parasimpatico- thanks. Tried a hard reset a few times now and nothing. Sucks but looks like I may need to format again ! Really won't be impressed if this happens every time a new update comes out.

This has helped some users. Disconnect the external HDD. Then hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in
and restart the console (DO NOT connect the external HDD yet. Once it is back up and operational connect the external HDD. Test for results. Let us know. Good Luck!
