External Hard Drive Not Recognized

    Here's a tip if more people have issues with their harddrive not being detected.

    1. Press the Home button
    2. Press the Menu button (right from the home button),and select
      Settings
    3. Go to Power & startup
    4. Uncheck When Xbox is off, turn off storage
    This will ensure that your harddrive does not turn off so it stays detected

    Requires a hard drive.

    You have to have an external hard drive plug in. It does not have to be 360 just reformat it. External hard drives that plug in the USB are not recognized as a hard drive for the 360.

    Perhaps your child's external hard drive is not working. Is your child's external hard drive recognized by the Xbox One? Does it turn on any lights?

    If anyone else is have the same problem here is a link to reformatting external hard drives. Likely your hard drive will show as unrecognized so just follow that section. Pretty simple in the end.
