  1. External Hard Drive Not Recognised By Xbox One S Upon Waking.

    Hi,

Ok, so 3 months ago I bought a brand new Xbox One S 1TB console. I wanted to get extra storage so bought a new SATA III hard drive and USB 3 enclosure.

The hard drive is a Toshiba H200 High Performance 1TB SSHD (HDWM110EZSTA)

The enclosure is a Sabrent USB 3.0 enclosure (EC-UM3W)

Now mostly it all works fine, the problem is that when I wake the console, it seems the hard drive isn't waking with it. The external drive isn't recognised as being connected and I have to disconnect and reconnect it every time to get it to show up and
    work again.

I've tried unselecting "When Xbox is off turn off storage" and the Xbox is set to "Instant On"

As long as the Xbox remains on, the hard drive works fine, it is only when it sleeps and wakes that I have a problem. It's not a huge problem but it's still kind of annoying, I have started simply disconnecting the drive before waking the console and then
reconnecting it but I'd really rather not to have to keep doing that.

    Any ideas?

    :)

  2. non 360 games

I take it by the error 'Game could not start', the OP is indeed trying to play the original Xbox version, any other disc wouldn't even by recognised by the console.

Do you have a Hard drive for your console? Is it an official one? NOTE: Internal 4GB storage doesn't count, neither do external hard drives or flash drives. The Hard Drive, must be an official Xbox 360 Hard Drive.

    External Hard drive not recognised

You say "it wouldn't finish formatting". Is that because you cancelled the formatting, or because the computer encountered a problem with the drive and stopped formatting it?

Maybe the drive is starting to get corrupted sectors, and with a corrupted filesystem, the console might be unable to recognize the drive properly.

Try to format the drive on your PC completely again.

And it's normal for the PC to ask you to format it, as the console uses it's own proprietary file system that your PC can't "understand".

  4. External Hard Drive Not Recognised By Xbox One S Upon Waking.

    Nevermind.

I took the SSHD out of the enclosure and replaced the hard drive in my PS4 (increasing it's capacity from 500GB to 1TB). Then I took the 1TB external hard drive from my PS4 and made it the external hard drive for my Xbox and no longer have the issue.

It seems it was either the SSHD or the enclosure that didn't seem to quite work right as an external hard drive on the Xbox. Either way problem solved.

    Hard Drive Help!

When you say you bought a new one, was it a hard drive similar to your old one, or one of the newer model hard drives. If it was one of the newer model hard drives, then that is why it wont work. The older model xbox 360's won't recognise them.

My xbox one doesn't recognise my external hard drive when it worked perfectly fine on my 360.... doing my head in! Does any one know how to resolve this??

Xbox One will not let me play my disc games, only digital.

It recognises the external hard drive and all my games are on there and when I unplug the hard drive and put a disc in. It still doesn't do anything.

Is this just an external hard drive that was used on the One S or the internal hard drive?
