  1. External Hard drive not being recognized

I recently had exams so I haven’t been on my Xbox for about 3 weeks, I got on not long ago and played 1 game and then got off again and haven’t touched for a week- a week and a half and today I decided to play some more games I get on and my whole Xbox is having a hissy fit glitching and making noises randomly, after different restarts like unplugging and holding the button on the Xbox to shut it down and even switching ports int plugged in the Xbox seemed to calm down but now the hard drive isn’t happy, I have 2 external hard drives, one of which I don’t know the brand, make or model but the other (the one that isn’t working) is seagate and labeled to be used on Xbox consoles, I haven’t had it too long the other one I’ve had maybe double the time and it’s still kicking, anyway it wasn’t recognizing the hard drive and I did everything and I mean everything to fix this I did every restart and reset in the book every thing, different plug in ports evens soft factory reset (factor reset they keeps data and games) and nothing worked, after 3 hours of this and playing around with different usb ports I had the first external hard drive (working one) half out and the broken/ not working one all the way in but angled down if recognized if but it had half the games in it, I don’t think my resetting would have delete anything since the other hard drive that’s working was plugged in and hasn’t lost anything,

I don’t know what can be done, it isn’t a major lose I can jsut re download all the games I jsut would prefer not to anyone got a fix to this problem?

    :)

External Hard Drive Not Recognized Anymore

Thanks for your reply! I did try that out, it does recognize other usb/external hard drives, so I'm thinking the problem is more with this particular hard drive that suddenly isn't being recognized anymore.

    Hello!

I'm an independent advisor and a member of the Xbox Community.

I will be glad to help you.

It is recommended that you format the external storage, connect it to a PC and from the file manager you will be able to do it. You can also use the Windows disk manager for formatting.

Once this is done, connect it to the console and test if it is detected normally.

    Best Regards.
