External Hard Drive not available as capture location?

    Hi, quick question here.

I recently got an external hard drive that I want to use as an external capture location. This one to be exact:

    https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-STEA1000400/dp/B00TKFEEAS/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=seagate+1tb+expansion&qid=1584617313&sr=8-2

It is USB 3.0, but when I try to plug it in and set it as an external capture location, it says:

"To capture game clips and screenshots externally, storage must be formatted as NTSF."

I have formatted the drive as NTSF on my Mac multiple times and plugged it back in. However, every time the same message pops up. I've tried restarting my xbox and power cycling it, however none of that seems to work.

At this point, I don't know what else I could do and maybe the xbox is just faulty? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    :)

External Hard Drive not available as capture location?

Same problem I cant set up a Capture with an external hard drive Xbox X

I have done these steps with both a seagate 2tb and Western digital 2tb ( i have a 4tb external for games already)

I have formatted on Windows and Mac

    No difference

It always comes up EFI and says format to NTFS even though both the PC and Mac recognize it as 3.0 NTFS each time

Ive switched all usb hubs several times

Im giving up seems its the system and i cant do it

    Ive tried for 3 days
I'm having the exact same issues with my 4 TB Seagate it's a 3.0 and my PC is formatting it perfectly to NTFS but whenever I attempt to use any of the 3 available Xbox One S USB hubs the system registers my hdd as ETI and tells me to reformat to NTFS.

The Xbox will only format the drive in order to store games on it in a special Xbox format.

In order to use the drive as media storage or capture drive, you will have to format the drive on a PC. If MacOS has trouble with NTFS, I recommend asking a friend with Windows, or using Bootcamp on your Mac to dual boot into a native Windows installation
    to format your drive.

External Hard Drive not available as capture location?

    How do I do that?

The xbox told me to format it via PC. Is there a way to have the xbox to format it, and if so could you link me some instructions please?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

It might be, that your Mac isn't properly formatting it in NTFS.

If possible use Bootcamp on your Mac to boot to a native Windows system, or ask a friend with Windows PC to format the drive as NTFS.
