    External hard drive no longer works but cannot load these files onto console


    My external hard drive no longer works, it isnt recognised on the console, or on a PC. I purchased a number of games that i loaded directly onto the external drive that i would like to re-load onto my console instead. However when i try to reinstall them onto my console, it downloads almost all the way and then just stops. Is there a way to download these games that i have already purchased?

    Xbox One HDD Died

    If it's the internal drive he would need to send the console in for repair. However, if he has already opened the console Microsoft will no longer touch it.

    Otherwise, there would be no way for him to load the OS files to an external drive in order to run the console.

    The small print at the bottom of the page that I linked for you mentions:

    "USB flash drive is not a hard drive."

    Xbox's connection with an external drive is read-only. You can only read files that are already on the drive after connecting. You can't save game files or anything else on the Xbox main drive onto an external hard drive.

    Do you have an external drive attached? If so, is the app loaded onto that drive? If it is then try moving it to the main hard drive to see if that improves performance.

    In the MCC for pc, my dad has xbox game pass ultimate and I am able to get other games and add-ons to work, but when i try to go and play a campaign, it says the DLC is not installed.

    yeah i’ve done it twice now, first time was installed on an internal hard drive, then i uninstalled it and installed it onto an external hard drive, then i uninstalled and reinstalled onto the external again and it didn’t work at all.
