external hard drive no longer recognized after update

My Seagate external drive no longer is seen by the system since the update. I have gone through the USB drive troubleshooting steps. ANy other suggestions short of reformatting the drive?

My xbox one no longer recognizes my external hard drive after the update.

 

Same here. Since the update (sept 2015) my external is not recognized by the console. Power cycling SOMETIMES helps. This is a bummer, as probably 70% of my xbox one use is accessing content on this drive.

The drive has no problems being detected by a computer.

 

I have the same problem, straight after update it happened. shows up but only as a media drive , I dont want to reformat it and lose my saves and data.

tried them all, but i'm not reformatting it just yet as i dont want my files lost. it shows up as media drive only after the update so its the update not our drives.

 

I've tried 2 different drives, a 320 and a 500, usb 3.0, NTFS format. The XBONE isn't reading either of them, tried both USB ports, I got it to recognize the 320 as a media drive once. But that's it. No idea why you'd direct anyone to that page, those suggested
steps are pointless (yes, I tried them).

 

I have tried all the steps dozens of times, I have power cycled dozens of times, I took the drive to my computer and reformatted it to see if my drive needed repaired, plugged it in xbox read it as media, I reformatted it twice, after hitting submit for
formatting nothing happens the drive disappears, if i power cycle and switch ports, it will ask to format again, and again does nothing.

Could you please post the make, model and sizes of your drives. Personally I have a Seagate Desktop Expansion Drive that's 4TB and have had no issues whatsoever.

 

mines a Toshiba USB 3.0 2.0 TB

 

WD3200BEKT in an ORICO 2588US3 enclosure (320 GB)

Seagate SDR00F1 500GB

Sorry to hear that the issue is continuing to occur with both external storage devices. Just to clarify, have you tried reformatting one of your devices?

that is mine it was a mini update just recently it could be a preview one?

My hard drive is usb 3.0 toshiba dtb320 2tb

 

no I do not, that is my only device, the drive works just fine when I connect to the computer. It will connect to the Xbox and will read as a media drive, but the moment I format it for games and apps, it disappears from the console. Disconnecting and reconnecting
the drive results in starting the process all over again.
