External Hard Drive no longer detected (Summer Update)

My USB 3.0 Seagate hard drive no longer works on my Xbox one with this latest update. It is lit up, but not being read.

It just refuses to detect the drive whatsoever, despite working on the 360 and my PC just fine.

I had been using the drive earlier today (Media Player), prior to the update, and it worked fine, however now it is nowhere to be seen.

It was the same in the preview update, which I opt'd out of because of it, but now I guess im stuck with it, unless there is a fix which isn't a power cycle or changing USB ports. I've tried the majority of the simple troubleshooting.

External Hard drive not recognized

My brother's external hard drive that he has had for about 9 months is no longer detected by his Xbox one. Is this happening to anyone else? Any advice?

Hello! Everyone in the community seems to be having such problem with this new summer update. I have a troubleshoot list. If this works out great. If not respond back. And I'll try my best.

Already been through that whole troubleshooting guide, nothing has worked.

I tried 2 other External hard drives and they work fine, which puzzles me even more. Might just have to revert back to the 360 for media playback.

 

Sorry to say you might just have to. Although the 360 is still fun.

 

Having the exact same problem and mines a seagate aswell. So dissapointed as it was used daily in my household I hope they bring out a fix for it soon

I've got the same problem. Tried all the troubleshooting fixes and it still doesn't recognise the external drive. The internal drive is full and all of my games are on the external drive so my Xbox One is currently useless. This needs a fix soon as I can't
play any of my installed games or use most of the apps.

 

As mascot said all you can do really is await a patch. Nothing but thumbdrives work on Media player for me, which is weird. Issue doesn't really bother me that much anymore considering my hard drive is actually dead.

 

Having the same problem since last week, can no longer use any of my external drives for media playback. Was being used every day before. May just have to root out my 360.

 

i cant stream shows to my xbox from pc or tablet as well

 

My Usb stick worked fine yesterday, watched an MKV file. Now today it does not work - says no files found, yet I have changed nothing. Very annoying. I just bought an Xbox one 3 days ago, primarily to use as a media player! Now I can't play any media files,
yet the Xbone is 3 years old and this is still a problem?

 

60+ games installed on my external drive that I can't play. Can't clear enough space on the internal drive so the Xbox is essentially useless for gaming at the moment. This really needs a fix asap. Short of buying a new Xbox One with a bigger internal drive
how am I supposed to access my games collection?
