External Hard Drive Mess

I have an external hard drive for my Xbox One and have been using it to save app and game data once my internal hard drive was full. I was having some trouble saving game progress with Mass Effect Andromeda. I kept getting an error message saying I needed
3.00 mb of space to auto save. So I thought maybe something was wrong with my external. I looked at the options under settings and I decided to give formatting the device a try. BIG MISTAKE! I lost all my game data on Mass Effect. That was 120 hrs of my life...
GONE! I loved the character I made. Is there anyway I can undo what I did? I'm kind of technologically inept, so please help. And maybe provide a lot of hand holding. I am bad at this.

Compatible External Hard Drives For Xbox One

My xbox one has the 500 GB hard drives and it is now 100% full. Im looking for a compatible 2TB+ external hard drive that I don't have to manually format or mess with. Does one like that exist? Any suggestions would be awesome!

To check, have you been connected to Xbox Live at all? If you've been connected, your saves should be saves to the cloud. If you weren't connected to Xbox Live, unfortunately there isn't a way to recover your saves.

Update: I have an external hard drive, I removed this and downloaded my game to the console. This resolved all my issues. I also noticed a huge lag in the menus when using the hard drive. Maybe the update messed something up with that.

Microsoft, please look into this. The external hard drive is going to be essential to a lot of gamers.

I also use external hard drive I never notice any problems plus wont mess around with xbox hardware anyway

Is this game stored on your Internal Storage or External hard drive? If it's on your External Hard drive kindly move it to your Internal Storage then remove the hard drive. This is to check if it's due to the external hard drive.

Ive tried the power cycle previously, i have just done the reset and kept my locally saved games. I wiped my external hard drives clean and now began reinstalling the games that was on there. So far so good, i have a feeling only the games that was saved
on my external hard drives corrupted so im going to get them reinstalled and not mess with them again ahaha.
