External Hard Drive making Xbox One X Fan Louder

Just Bought a “Premium Refurbished” Xbox One X from GameStop, and when I opened it it had a new serial number sticker that was placed over the original, and when i went to plug it in I noticed that the back panel wasnt on good where I was able to lift it
up a little (just to set the plot for the story) ... Anyway the console started ok I ran the set up, also fine, I decided to plug in my Seagate 4TB External Hard Drive and soon after the internal fam of the xbox began to sound like a “Jet Plane” just wondering
if this is an xbox issue or a hard drive issue...

    Thanks

    :)

Xbox One X Project Scorpio NOISY FAN, even after repair

Are you currently using a external hard drive on your Xbox one X?

If so try running your console with out it plugged in.

Again, make sure you have adequate ventilation around your console, it sounds like its overheating, hence fan kicking into overtime

    Hi

With my Xbox One X some games will make the console fan work more often and louder than other game. With my Xbox One X I know Wolfenstein II The New Colossus would will this happen.

Is it safe using an old Xbox one internal hard drive as an external storage for my new Xbox series x?

Hi and thanks for reaching out. I hope you’re doing well. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I'll be happy to help you.

It is safe to use a reformatted hard drive as an external storage option for your Xbox Series X. However, there are a few things to keep in mind:

    1. Make sure that the hard drive is compatible with your Xbox Series X. The hard drive should be USB 3.0 and have a capacity of at least 256GB.

    2. If the hard drive was previously used in another device (such as an Xbox One S), make sure that you have properly formatted it before using it as external storage for your Xbox Series X.

    3. As with any external storage device, there is always a risk of data loss or corruption if the hard drive is not used properly. To minimize this risk, make sure to handle the hard drive gently and keep it away from extreme temperatures, moisture, and physical damage.

Overall, as long as you follow these guidelines, you should be able to use your old hard drive as external storage for your Xbox Series X without any problems.

XBox One X and external drive

Your external hard drive will work perfectly with Xbox One X.

Xbox One X Is Gonna Be Cheaper Than Most Shoes! Only $499.99!

But want to know if Xbox One X supports external hard drives like the S.
The size of the hard drive on the Xbox One X sounds so small I can't imagine it not supporting external drives. If it installs 4k games on the hard drive, I would think it would eat up space fast. (If that makes sense to anyone besides me. lol)

I might be wrong. I am about once a year so it's possible I guess. :p
