    External Hard Drive keeps disconnecting and reconnecting


    I’ve recently bought an external hard drive for my xbox one s. The hard drive meets all the requirements; 500gb and usb 3.0.

    The xbox detects the hard drive and I’ve been able to transfer games between the internal and external. The issue is that the hard drive disconnects itself every few minutes and then reconnects and I get the on screen prompt ‘External Device Ready’. Because of this, if I launch a game thats on the external hard drive it won’t keep playing when the drive disconnects itself. Also I’ve tried changing ports. When I use the back ports it constantly disconnects and if I use the port on the front it eventually disconnects my console from xbox live and it won’t allow me to reconnect.
    If anyone has a solution they can share it would be greatly appreciated

    Workaround: While the console is off, disconnect the external hard drive, power on the console, connect to the wireless network, and reconnect the external hard drive.

    Hello!!

    Try the following steps please:
    Disconnect the hard drive from your console.
    Then reconnect again, you will receive a message showing that you are connected.

    Then keep the home button pressed until it opens the hard drive menu and if possible format it again.

    Once formatted, see if you can use the external disk again.

    Do you have any other USB devices connected? You can try the AC Adapter to determine if it makes a difference. Good Luck!

    Do not uninstall from the external hard drive, just disconnect from your console. When finished resetting, do a fresh install right into your console's internal memory. Keep the external hard drive disconnected.

    Maybe try this:

    1. Turn off the Xbox 360 completely.
    2. Disconnect all cables and devices from the console.
    3. Remove the external hard drive if one is attached.
    4. Reconnect the power source and restart the console.
    5. Shut down the console and reattach the hard drive.
