    hi there.

    I recently purchased a external hard drive, I plugged it in and my xbox noticed it and asked me to format it, I did so and then selected it as my primary memory device. I then transferred a game or two over and turned off my xbox. ever since then it hasnt
    recognized the drive and I cant access it. Ive tried everything on the external drive troubleshooting page as well as plugging it into my computer ( recognizes it but cant do anything else). any help is appreciated thank you

    If you have an external hard drive could you try deleting a game and installing it directly to the console's hard drive to rule out issues with the external drive itself?

    When you plugged it into your computer, what do you mean it "recognizes it but can't do anything else"?

    Try reformatting the drive on your Windows PC (as NTFS), and then let your Xbox One format it again for use.

    If you cannot reformat the drive, there is likely something wrong with it. If that is indeed the case, returning it for a refund/exchange is your best option.

    Having the same issues. Could be something to do with the external hard drive maybe, not had time to troubleshoot yet though.

    Some ideas to try maybe?

    1. Make the Xbox One drive the primary drive, while the external drive is still plugged in

    2. Try with the external hard drive unplugged

    No idea if this will make a difference, but this issue only started for me since I got an external drive. Unless others are having the same issue with no external hard drive?

    Do you have an External hard drive plugged into your console? A corrupted External hard drive may cause issues as well.

    Can you try putting the game on an external Hard drive (USB3.0 and at least 256GB) to see if it's a hard drive issue?
    The thing is I don't have an external hard drive and they cost like 70 bucks. I was just wondering if there was a way to fix it without the external hard drive.
