    External Hard Drive Issues


    So I've had an external hard drive for almost 2 years now, and its worked great, but recently my Xbox has been having trouble recognizing it. Sometimes it will connect just fine, but after a few minutes it will disconnect. Sometimes it will Connect then
    Disconnect and Reconnect until it eventually stops. Sometimes it just doesn't connect at all. I've tried using different USB ports, rebooting the console, changing my power mode settings, and have just left it unplugged from the console for a few days, nothing
    seems to be working. Anyone have any ideas?

    If you have an external hard drive could you try deleting a game and installing it directly to the console's hard drive to rule out issues with the external drive itself?

    External Hard Drive Issues

    It sounds like the External Hard Drive is dying. You can contact the support from the manufacturer of the drive to see if they have suggestions, but it is likely that you will need a new one.

    Having the same issues. Could be something to do with the external hard drive maybe, not had time to troubleshoot yet though.

    Some ideas to try maybe?

    1. Make the Xbox One drive the primary drive, while the external drive is still plugged in

    2. Try with the external hard drive unplugged

    No idea if this will make a difference, but this issue only started for me since I got an external drive. Unless others are having the same issue with no external hard drive?

    May I know if an external hard drive is plugged into your console? If yes, have you kept the external hard drive unplugged when performing troubleshooting steps and check if the issue persists without external hard drive?

    Do you have an External hard drive plugged into your console? A corrupted External hard drive may cause issues as well.
