External Hard Drive Issue

Hello, lately I have been struggling to get my WD 1.3 TB External Hard drive to connect to my Xbox One. I've tried everything from rebooting the Xbox to even getting a new cord. After the new USB 3.0 cord the hard drive connected and functioned properly
for about a day and now it will not connect properly anymore. I'm not sure if my issue lies in the drive itself, but it has always worked fine on my PC before I formatted it for my Xbox. If you have any answers or help to provide I would be very grateful!

External Hard-drive Issue

My Xbox will not detect my 120gb External Hard-drive I, have a partition of 16gb exactly that is formatted to FAT32(even when formatted to XFAT it isn't recognised either)
however the light is on and the disc is spinning in the drive. When plugged into my computer it works fine, it shows both partitions but when I go to Xbox/System Settings/Storage it only shows my HDD and Xbox Cloud Saves. I have tried most guides however
none seem to work. Thanks For Any Help, .

 

External hard drive issue

Hey I need help with an issue I'm having with my Seagate Expansion 3 TB HDD that I'm attempting to use for game storage. Straight out of the box it was not recognized by the Xbox One. So I took all the steps listed in the trouble shoot and after the hard
restart still no prompt to reformat. When I went into my storage setting I see that it's already being recognized as a media storage and offers me no options to reformat. I tried reformating it on my Mac and erasing any files already existing. Unfortunately
it still gets recognized as a media storage. Please help me figure out how to convert this hard drive for game storage as I just spent $140 on this thing and need the starve space.

 

It's always a touchy subject when trying to give advice on hard drive issues because sometimes things just break. That's the truth of it. I've had a two week old HDD's just stop working on me before now. It's just one of those things.

But before you do anything else let's try a few things. If you've tried these things already then I apologise.

First, Can you try plugging the drive into a different USB slot on your Xbox One. Obvious I know but you'd be surprised how many people don't even think to do that.

Second, If it's not the USB port can you plug the drive into your PC and run a drive test. You can find WD's drive test software HERE

Third, If the drive test comes back all clear the next option would be a full format which will delete your games unfortunately but if it fixes the problem then it's a small price to pay.
