External Hard drive Issue

Hi, looking for advice on external hard drive issue. I purchased a Seagate 4TB portable drive, model STEA4000400, recently and have transferred all games to this with the plan to store all future games here too. Started playing Gears of War 4 and game seems
to have shuttering/pausing/lagging issues. Nothing major, only one second or so and when characters speak the lip sync seems to be out. Is the hard drive operating slow? I have compared the Seagate to the WD My Book HDD which is recommended on other forums
but they have the same RPMS. Does having external power source make a difference? This HDD is ideal as it's so small and portable.

External Hard-drive Issue

My Xbox will not detect my 120gb External Hard-drive I, have a partition of 16gb exactly that is formatted to FAT32(even when formatted to XFAT it isn't recognised either)
however the light is on and the disc is spinning in the drive. When plugged into my computer it works fine, it shows both partitions but when I go to Xbox/System Settings/Storage it only shows my HDD and Xbox Cloud Saves. I have tried most guides however
none seem to work. Thanks For Any Help, .

 

External hard drive issue

Hey I need help with an issue I'm having with my Seagate Expansion 3 TB HDD that I'm attempting to use for game storage. Straight out of the box it was not recognized by the Xbox One. So I took all the steps listed in the trouble shoot and after the hard
restart still no prompt to reformat. When I went into my storage setting I see that it's already being recognized as a media storage and offers me no options to reformat. I tried reformating it on my Mac and erasing any files already existing. Unfortunately
it still gets recognized as a media storage. Please help me figure out how to convert this hard drive for game storage as I just spent $140 on this thing and need the starve space.

 

According to the Seagate drive model, it does run at 5,400rpm, which is generally the slowest rotation speeds offered by most external hard drives nowadays. Drives with 7,200rpm are preferred for an extra read/write speed boost.

Power adapters don't necessarily make a difference in terms of speed. It just helps power the HDD if it can't get enough power draw from USB.

For Gears 4, does the game act the same way if it was on a different storage device? Like your WD MyBook or the Xbox's internal hard drive?

 

I have transferred gears 4 back to the internal drive and works fine.

I had halo on internal and now external drive and problems of pausing are there.

So obviously its the drive.

So my next big question is, what drive works best?

From my research, the internal drive on xbox one S is 5400rpms.

A lot of the hard drives recommended on websites and forums are also 5400rpms.

There is a seagate xbox hard drive, green with xbox logo on it, is also 5400rpms.

But yet people say that this speed is too slow.

I can't understand how the xbox branded drive is better than what I have, and both being seagate.

Its a lot of money to splash out and find out the same problem might exist.

Is there a hard drive that xbox guarantee will work and have no issues?

Surely I'm not the first person to ask.

I think it is very poor from microsoft to say any hard drive with usb 3.0 will work as an external when afterwards it suggests 7200rpms is required.

Why not say this upfront?
