External Hard Drive is ready / Installation stopped

I have had this problem for the past week where whenever I try to transfer or update games on my external hard drive there is a message at the bottom of the screen. It repeats “installation stopped” and immediately after that message disappears, it comes
up with another one “External Hard Drive is ready”. It repeats this process about ten or so times lasting about a minute then the update or transfer says, “Installation stopped” where the progress bar is. This happens whenever I try to move a game from internal
to external or external to internal. I’d be devestated to lose my hundreds and hundreds of hours worth of gameplay on that external drive. Is there any way to recover from this?

I have 2Tb Phantom Drive Xstor. I reached out to the vendor and was told that the last xbox update broke something with the external drive functions. Microsoft is suppose to be working on the issue. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps but none
have worked.

Is your external drive functioning perfectly? Have you tried different usb plugs and ports possibly. Just make sure the drive is not corrupted or having issues? What type of external drive do you have by the way. There are a bunch of things you can do
but first ensure the drive is working correctly. You can start by restarting the xbox unplug everything etc replug then start up etc . Ensure your machine is updated. I would get a good external drive just to be sure. Which model of xbox do you have. Provide
us with the most accurate complete information possible.

Got the same issue got this reply from Phantom Drives, Thank you for contacting Fantom Drives. We are aware of the issue after Microsoft Xbox Updated their console. It is a world wide problem with external

Hey Squirrel! Not sure exactly why the HDD is having issues, but even if you have to delete a game, as long as you played it online, your save file is in the cloud. So no worries about losing your progress. Have you tried other USB ports on the Xbox etc?

I have the exact same issue. When I load up a game it all of the sudden crashed and says that the external hard drive is ready. It's really annoying.
