    External Hard Drive interfering with HDMI signal?


    So this seems very bizarre to me, but it's what's happening. Every time I plug my 4 TB. Western Digital hard drive into my Xbox, I lose my signal from my HDMI cable. Other hard drives work fine and my hard drive doesn't work on other xbox's. does anyone
    know why? Or how to fix? I'll try to format it on my PC and post back here. Just not wanting to buy a new Hard Drive.

    Xbox One S = NOT FAIR FOR DAY ONE BUYERS

    Original Xbox was supported during (only) 4 years.

    Xbox 360 Elite brought HDMI outpout.

    Xbox 360 S brought internal hard drive.(and external hard drive support).

    ....

    And you're only upset,today.

    Help! Seagate HD disconnects me from XboxLive

    I just bought a 1TB Backup Plus Slim external hard drive for my Xbox One S. I plugged it in and formatted it for games and apps. But I wasn't connecting to my internet. I tried power cycling my modem and turning my Xbox off and back on. Then I thought maybe
    it was the hard drive interfering with it. Sure enough when I unplug my hard drive my Xbox immediately connects. And when I plug it back in it disconnects. ****? It's obviously the hard drive. Has anyone ever experienced this? How can I fix it? Any help would
    be appreciated.

    What is the brand of your external hard drive? Certain brands sometimes don't work with Xbox one.

    Let us know so we can hopefully get you a solution!

    Hello External Hard Drive interfering with HDMI signal? :)

    Have you tested if that WD External drive works properly on a PC? Is that a WD My Book or a WD Elements Desktop drive?

    I would consider testing the drive's health with
    WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic     and see if the device is operating properly.

    Are you using the same power outlet to power both the console and the External Drive? I would try using different power outlets.

    It sounds like a power issue to me... Does this HD have an AC adaptor that powers it using 110v current or is it powered via USB?

Would you please provide us with further information regarding this issue such as the exact external hard drive that you have (Seagate, WD, Toshiba, Samsung etc), the storage capacity, if this occurs on other Xbox consoles or with other external storage devices on the same console ? if you encounters any error codes ?

    Does your external hard drive have a usb port as we as an external power supply or does the Usb power the hard drive itself? Secondly, is it set to instant on or power saving? There have been reports of problems with externally powered drives not getting
    or hearing the go to sleep signal or signal which puts it into standby when console shuts down and therefore stays on. Some will go into standby but not power on again after console is powered back on. What drive are you using?
